The original paintings of Murray Frederick can be said to span three distinct though closely related genres; that of oriental-themed or eastern inspired works, ‘traditional’ bird and wildlife painting, and what could be broadly described as still life interpretations of the world in which we live.

These three approaches to painting and fine art are constantly interweaving however, common motifs melding into a general philosophy which encompasses nature and natural history, both Oriental and Western philosophies, and a mélange of cultural heritage's from around the world. Common themes involving wildlife, particularly birds and more particularly birds from Australia, find themselves expressed in syncopation with more exotic motifs, Zen ideals, oriental influences, and the broader, more secular ideals of contemporary religion.
